5. Hallet’s Beach

A day boating on the Hawkesbury River with a stop at this lovely little cove, about 30km north of Sydney CBD in the Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park. We hired a little ‘tinny’ from Cottage Point Kiosk, loaded up the fishing and picnic gear and set-off to see what we could find. At high tide the beach is a small strip of sand and as the tide goes out a great place to stop for a picnic and swim.

The whole day boating I only saw a couple pieces of floating plastic, which is pretty good for a location in a city of 5 million people. It was so clean it made me stop and think where do I put that tiny bit of left over fishing line, should I toss it over? Surely in this vast waterway it would never make a difference. But it does.
